Why do you want to be financially free?
Redeeming the time and reflecting on Growth and Evolution
As April comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on my journey since the beginning of the year. While my passion for crypto still burns bright, I've realized that there's more to my story than just blockchain technology.
When I first started my journey into the web3 space, I was filled with fire and enthusiasm. However, the more I immerse myself in this world, the more I see the ugly side of things. Many projects turn out to be nothing but smoke and mirrors, and it's disheartening.
Don't get me wrong; I still believe that blockchain and AI are the future. But I want to inject more soul into my blog posts. I want to talk about the entrepreneurial journey as a whole—a journey filled with challenges that often require me to remind myself why I'm doing what I'm doing.
My goal is simple: I want to be useful, I want financial freedom, and I refuse to be trapped in a 9-5 job that drains all of my energy. There's more to life than just surviving, and crypto presents one of the easiest ways to build generational wealth.
Freedom is a revered word within the web3 community, and it's what draws me to it. Especially during the current financial crisis, people are searching for alternatives. They want to live, not just survive. Here in Portugal, where the minimum salary can't even cover rent, it's clear that something is wrong with our society.
As many successful people say, you have to stand up for yourself because nobody is going to save you. More and more people are waking up and saying, "Enough is enough, I want more from life." But there's no blueprint for this journey. It's all trial and error, continuous learning, attending seminars, and learning from successful entrepreneurs.
We wonder why we don't teach these things in school. Understanding that money isn't the only thing necessary; we have to live by a system of values.
When building my team for the Open League Hackathon, I made the mistake of accepting any developer who was willing to join us out of desperation to get something done. But I've learned that it's crucial to choose who you walk with. Do they share your values? Do they have the same vision? Will they stick around when things get tough? Finding someone who can share your highs and lows is invaluable.
So why do I want to be financially free? First and foremost, I want to retire my mom. And another important reason is that I want to redeem time. As I grow, I understand more and more the value of time. Building valuable relationships, getting to know your children, working on your project, growing spiritually, and building a relationship with God—all of these things take time. But how can we find this time if we are trapped in a 9-5 job?
That's why I believe that financial freedom isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. Let's make sure that during this bull run, we achieve it!
